West 20th Residence

New York, NY / 1500 SF / Residential

The owner of this one-bedroom apartment in the Flatiron District of Manhattan approached us with some very specific goals. He loved his apartment for its minimal, clean aesthetic and logical decision making, but he needed an office and a second bedroom. The primary suite was oversized with two large closets. By finessing the layout and some minor consolidation, we were able to achieve exactly what he wanted.

This renovation, although fairly straightforward in its goals and execution, required clear communication between all parties involved and a high attention to detail so that it could seamlessly integrate the new interventions with the existing details. Executing the details cleanly the first time was the only way to complete the project in a short timeline and within the allotted budget, both critical to the success of the project. Working with FORRM and seasoned NYC-based HNL Construction, the client was able to convert his one-bedroom apartment into a two-bedroom with an office all while maintaining a large, loft-like great room. He was very pleased, and it was even more gratifying at the end of the project to receive calls and emails from neighbors telling us how impressed they were with the work and how the renovation was handled. To us, it was a job well done.
